McWhinney completes first project in North Park development

BROOMFIELD – Prospect Ridge Academy, the first project in McWhinney’s North Park development in Broomfield, is complete.

The school is located at the northwest corner of Preble Creek Parkway and Sheridan Parkway.

North Park is a 395-acre mixed-use community developed by Loveland-based McWhinney near the intersection of Interstate 25 and Highway 7. Prospect Ridge Academy’s 45,000-square-foot facility is the first project to be completed in the development.

Platte River must prepare for the retirement of 431 megawatts (MW) of dispatchable, coal-fired generation by the end of the decade and address more frequent extreme weather events that can bring dark calms (periods when there is no sun or wind).

The new charter school will offer college preparatory course work with a math and science focus and will enroll approximately 516 students. The school sits on six acres of land, and has the option to purchase 10 adjacent acres for the construction of a high school by 2014.
