Eetrex may receive rebates up to $26,000

BOULDER – Electronic battery company Eetrex Inc. can receive up to $26,000 in sales- and use-tax rebates and permit-related fee rebates as part of a business incentive program.

Boulder-based Eetrex has created both recycling and commuting programs – in part, to qualify for the rebates, the city of Boulder said in a press statement. Companies looking to receive such rebates can choose to implement programs that fit a range of social, community, and environmental sustainability guidelines, the statement said.

City business incentives can cover a rebates on a wide range of fees, equipment and construction use taxes. Boulder’s city manager Jane Brautigam may consider a specific incentive packages for tax and fee rebates to meet a company’s specific needs, the city said.

Companies make investments, pay taxes or fees to the city, then apply for the rebates.

“Eetrex is part of the new energy economy and is leading innovation in power electronics and battery systems,” Brautigam said in the statement. “The city is pleased that its incentives are helping Eetrex grow and stay in Boulder.”

Eetrex was founded in Boulder in 2006. The company grew and moved into a larger 9,700-square-foot space at 4900 Pearl East Circle, Suite 110, in June 2011.

Eetrex’s flexible rebate application is one of six submitted to the city in late 2011. Four 2011 applications are pending. The city’s approved 2012 budget includes $350,000 in funding for 2012 flexible tax and fee rebates for employers.
