Card Gnome’s co-founders in holiday mood
Joel Wishkovsky and Chad McGimpsey want to help bridge the gap between people in the military and their family and friends this holiday season.
The co-founders of Boulder-based Card Gnome, an online greeting card store featuring designs by independent artists, have created Cards and Heroes, a program that will give 10,000 greeting cards to military members throughout the holidays.
The program provides an easy way for deployed service members to send personalized cards to loved ones if they cannot be home for the holidays.

The company also is giving people an opportunity to show their appreciation to members of the military by sending holiday cards through the American Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes campaign.
“Sharing the holidays with family and friends makes this time of year special in so many ways. But it can be a difficult time for our military and their families who are separated by great distances,´ said McGimpsey, president of Card Gnome.
Through the Cards and Heroes program, service members can personalize one free greeting card to send to their loved ones.
A valid email address ending in .mil is needed to qualify for this offer. The first 10,000 service members who register will receive a free card during checkout.
The Holiday Mail for Heroes program gives people a chance to select a card and add a personal message that will be sent to the Red Cross, which will deliver the card to a veteran or active service member. All cards on the website are eligible for the program and are $4.99 each including shipping.
