New Frontier’s revenue down in Q2

BOULDER – Video distributor and adult film producer New Frontier Media Inc. announced Friday it lost $111,000 in the quarter that ended June 30, a loss of 1 cent per share.

New Frontier Media (Nasdaq: NOOF), which is based in Boulder, posted a $550,000 profit during the same period last year, which is the first quarter of its fiscal year.

The company reported revenue of $10.4 million during the quarter, down more than 16 percent from the $12.5 million the company earned during the same quarter last year.

Revenue from New Frontier Media’s video-on-demand unit fell slightly, and revenue in the company’s pay-per-view unit dropped, primarily due to less revenue from the two largest U.S. satellite providers, the company’s earnings report said.

New Frontier Media did have some bright news, as chief executive Michael Weiner reported the company has a new agreement to distribute video for a large satellite broadcaster in Mexico, and the company’s film production unit returned to profitability.
