Corbett House to help homeless youth

FORT COLLINS – Poudre Valley Health System opened Corbett House, a
residential facility in southeast Fort Collins, to help Larimer County
homeless youth.

The residential unit at Mountain Crest Behavioral Healthcare Center,
4601 Corbett Drive, can accommodate up to eight youth at a time who will
live there for up to six months and gain job-readiness skills, continue
their schooling and receive life coaching and other skills.

The facility is not a homeless shelter and youth will be authorized to
participate in the program by the Larimer County Department of Human
Services.

The new facility opened July 18 and was built with $33,275 from the
Poudre Valley Hospital Volunteer Association to cover construction costs
and an $8,000 donation in furniture from Home State Bank.

In Larimer County, more than 850 youth ages 17 to 20 are believed to be homeless.

“The fact that we have any homeless people in our community –
particularly youth – is a challenge that we as a community must
address,´ said Rulon Stacey, PVHS president and CEO. “Corbett House is
an important way that PVHS can help youth in need.”
