Erie inks deal with airport manager

ERIE – The Erie Board of Trustees voted Tuesday to make Vector Air Management LLC the operator of Erie Municipal Airport.

The board voted to approve a five-year deal with Vector Air Management, which will run and maintain the airport as a “turnkey” operator. The deal includes a provision that could extend it an additional five years.

Vector Air Management will pay $3,000 per month to the town and keep most of the profits. Net revenue in excess of $86,000 will be split evenly between Erie and Vector.

Support groups and events, as well as creative therapies and professional counseling, are all ways in which Pathways supports individuals dealing with grief and loss.

The agreement builds on a prior agreement between Erie and Vector Air LLC, in which Vector Air, a private company, performed some tasks around the airport but the town managed the airport.

Vector Air runs a flight school and an aircraft maintenance facility at the airport.

The new deal will be cheaper for the town and better for airport users, said Jason Hurd, owner of Vector Air LLC.

“It wasn’t very economical for the town to send contractors out here to do the mowing and the plowing, and it wasn’t very high on their priority list,” Hurd said.

The deal must be reviewed by the FAA.
