Enlightened Leadership in High Demand
I am tired of hearing hiring managers gripe about the quality of candidates. What about the quality of companies? Are the leaders fit to lead? Is the company financially solid? Does the organization consider its human resources a commodity to be used up until depleted? Where are the companies that consider employees an asset to be retained and developed?
Wouldn’t it be great if the tables got turned and employees took control? What if job searchers did the screening to determine if an employer met with their approval? Guess what? They can. You totally should. The following questions would definitely stump the interviewer:
- How do you lead?
- What books have you read on the topic?
- Who are the major influences on your leadership style?

- How does this job I am applying for fit into the mission of the organization?
- What is the mission?
- What are the core values of the company?
- How are these values personified in your management and leadership team and in your employees’ actions?
- How do you express appreciation to the staff here?
- How do you give constructive feedback?
- What are the three main reasons why I should choose to work here as opposed to another company?
Go on. I dare you. Imagine the day when employers will have to prove they are worthy of the employees they are trying to hire. Imagine.
