Wealth management for small-business owners

Time is of the essence for small- to medium-size business owners. And most of that time is spent running their business, with any free time reserved for family. Wealth management often takes a back seat.

It’s not that business owners don’t think about wealth management — they want to provide and protect wealth for their family’s future — it’s that they sometimes struggle making the decisions how to go about it. Many wonder how they can get cash out of their business, or how to remain diversified from the venture being their only investment.

Christopher Wood is editor and publisher of BizWest, a regional business journal covering Boulder, Broomfield, Larimer and Weld counties. Wood co-founded the Northern Colorado Business Report in 1995 and served as publisher of the Boulder County Business Report until the two publications were merged to form BizWest in 2014. From 1990 to 1995, Wood served as reporter and managing editor of the Denver Business Journal. He is a Marine Corps veteran and a graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder.
