Not spokin’ for
A bike purchased for $5 at a yard sale in Kentucky made news recently. Turns out the full-suspension mountain bike was custom made for Floyd Landis, who was stripped of his 2006 Tour de France win for a performance-enhancing drug offense.
Floyd used the bike to take second place in the 2007 Leadville Trail 100-mile mountain bike race. In addition to the custom-made bike ($8,000 retail) by Cyco-Path Bikes in California, the pedals were a $500 custom job, too.
How does the $8,000 bike of a world class cyclist end up at a yard sale for $5? Apparently, it was found on the side of the interstate before it ended up at the yard sale. If the bike turns out to be stolen and the owner comes forward to claim it, the buyer has said he will give it back.
