Lucid lands two federal contracts

LOUISVILLE – Lucid Dimensions Inc. in Louisville has received two federal contracts to continue working on its technology that detects and tracks infrared heat signatures in three dimensions.

The two contracts worth approximately $100,000 each come through the Missile Defense Agency Phase I Small Business Innovative Research Program.

The technology is used in Lucid’s Spherical Detection Systems. It can be customized to fit applications in security, defense, aerospace and search and rescue. Development is currently focused on hostile fire indication, missile defense and human detection to meet growing needs in the defense and homeland security sectors.

Ryan Riel, president and chief technology officer of Lucid said recent experience applying SDS technologies for perimeter security and hostile fire detection provides an “excellent” basis to develop next generation airborne and space-based sensing systems for missile defense.

Adam Calihman, Lucid’s chief executive, said the technology can be applied to numerous other applications such as unmanned aerial vehicles, collision avoidance, virtual reality and other systems used in the military and private sectors.
