Renewable energy sector growing

BOULDER – Annual revenue for the renewable energy sector including solar, wind and stationary fuel cells will grow to $60.6 billion by 2013, according to a report from Boulder-based Pike Research, a clean-tech market research and consulting firm.

The report said the sector grew 76 percent between 2007 and 2008.

Industry analyst David Link said the renewable energy sector is dominated by small solar energy installations.

“Solar represents approximately 98 percent of the world market, with small wind power and stationary fuel cells each accounting for about 1 percent – a mix that we expect to remain constant during the next five years.”
