The work/life balancing act

Recently I had the opportunity to spend time at UNC’s Monfort School of Business in Greeley. I facilitated a dialogue about human resource issues and recruitment with 40 management students. I asked this group of Generation Y-ers if work/life balance ranked in the top three MOST important factors for choosing an employer after graduation.  Every single hand immediately shot into the air.

I understand that not all jobs are equally conducive to flex scheduling. I also understand that it is hard for business leaders to cope with continual requests for flexibility as they deal with the daily pressures of doing business.…
