Federal funding again available for U.S. 36
BOULDER – The money is back on the table.
U.S. 36 was denied a $234 million Urban Partnership Agreement grant last August when five other metropolitan transportation areas were awarded the funds. Improvement plans for the 18 miles between Denver and Boulder took a slight detour when the substantial federal grant didn’t come through.
New York City, which was one of the five metro areas to receive funding, did not gain approval from its State Assembly to move forward with a “congestion pricing” package. This effectively stripped the city of the $354 million grant it received.
