Roche reduces greenhouse gas emissions

BOULDER – Switzerland-based The Roche Group has achieved a 10.8 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emission since 2001 at its sites in the United States.

An official announcement was to be made today at a Climate Leaders Partners Meeting in Boulder, home of Roche Colorado where the company manufactures peptides used in pharmaceutical compounds.

The voluntary Climate Leaders program was launched in 2002 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Administration.

According to a Roche statement, the reductions were achieved by modernizing the cogeneration plant in Nutley, N.J., eliminating mechanical refrigeration through waterside economizers, improved automation systems, upgrades to heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems,…
