Colorado’s kids losing big battle of the bulge

American culture is taking a growing toll on our children – literally.

More and more are becoming overweight and obese from an increasingly sedentary lifestyle and too much fast food. And even though Colorado is one of the fittest states in the nation, more and more adults and kids are climbing aboard the Fat Train that’s picking up steam.

According to the Atlanta-based Center for Disease Control, in 1991 no states had obesity rates of 20 percent or more of their population. By 2005, only Colorado and Hawaii were in the under-20-percent category. But that distinction likely won’t last for long. Last…
