Ritter to open E85 fuel site Wednesday

FORT COLLINS – Gov. Bill Ritter will speak at the grand opening of the first E85 fuel site in Larimer County Wednesday.

The ceremony, which will be held from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at Western Convenience Store, 1113 W. Drake Road in Fort Collins, will also feature remarks from Fort Collins Mayor Doug Hutchinson and Tom Plant, director of the Governor’s Office of Energy Management and Conservation.

E85 is a blended fuel mixture of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent unleaded gasoline for use in “flex-fuel” vehicles.

The grand opening will include general information and exhibits about E85 as well as experts on using alternative fuels in vehicles and several local dealerships exhibiting cars and trucks that can use the fuel.

Following the Fort Collins site opening, Ritter will travel to Windsor for a tour of Front Range Energy’s ethanol plant.
