Swift completes sale of non-fed beef division

GREELEY – Swift & Co., the Greeley-based meat processor that is the world’s second-largest producer of fresh beef and pork products, has completed the sale of two plants to a Canadian competitor.

Swift had announced the sale of the range-fed cattle division for an undisclosed sum in mid-April. The company will focus on its feedlot cattle sources instead.

XL Foods Inc. of Calgary, Alberta, Canada will operate the processing plants in Omaha, Neb., and Nampa, Idaho, under the brand XL Four Star Beef Inc.
