State House candidate dies from bicycling accident injuries
LOVELAND — Joe Jabaily, a Loveland physician and community leader, died this morning from injuries sustained in a bicycling accident on Sunday.
Jabaily was seriously injured Sunday during the biking portion of a triathlon when his bike and a passenger vehicle collided at the intersection of U.S. Highway 34 and Larimer County Road 9.
Jabaily was wearing a helmet, according to the police report. He was taken to McKee Medical Center and then airlifted to Denver Health Medical Center.
Jabaily, a neurologist with Loveland Neurosciences P.C. since 1983, was very active in the Loveland community. A past member of the Thompson School District Board of Directors, Jabaily was running for the position of State House Representative for District 51.
The Colorado State Patrol is investigating the incident.
