Fort Collins firm designs ski venues

FORT COLLINS — A local landscape architecture firm is awaiting the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City with high anticipation, having completed work on what one of the firm’s designers called a “100,000-piece jigsaw puzzle.”

EDAW Inc. of Fort Collins designed the cross-country skiing and biathlon courses, after bidding $900,000 in 1998 to win the contract.

“This is the first new venue that’s been designed from scratch,´ said Phil Hendricks, lead designer on the project. “It was great fun.”
