Terra Soft unveils Linux system

LOVELAND — Terra Soft Solutions Inc., a developer of Linux solutions for Apple PowerPC(TM) microprocessors, will demonstrate a new rack-mounted, 8-node, Apple G4 cluster running its Black Lab Linux system at an annual MacWorld show in New York.

A Terra Soft booth at the show will display complex images generated on the 8-node supercomputer with only a wireless AirPort to connect an Apple iBook laptop to the cluster.

“We first introduced Black Lab Linux to MacWorld NY attendees in 1999 with three G3 systems,” Terra Soft CEO Kai Staats said. “Following the success of the 4-node system demonstrated throughout the Apple Science & Technology Road Show, this is the first publicly showcased 8-node, 500 MHz G4 cluster.”
