The Bank gets FlatIron Crossing exclusive
BROOMFIELD – The Bank in Boulder has struck a deal with Westcor Partners to be the exclusive provider of bank services at its FlatIron Crossing shopping mall under construction at the 96th Street Interchange with U.S. 36.
“We’re excited about it simply because they are anticipating 18 million people a year visiting the FlatIron Crossing mall, and obviously that will provide us with a great deal of exposure in the market,´ said Dave Gilman, bank president.
He said The Bank, which approached Westcor more than a year ago, has signed a letter of intent with the Phoenix-based developer and expects to reach final agreement within a couple months. The new location would be called The Bank at FlatIron Crossing. The Bank also recently announced it would open a new branch in Westminster.
Gilman said bank officials requested an exclusive arrangement. Sue Martinez, Westcor vice president of strategic partnership, said it’s common for the company to have such a relationship with a single bank – it allows Westcor to develop a relationship with a particular bank as well as the opportunity to provide certain amenities to its shoppers.”
Martinez said Westcor picked The Bank from half a dozen others because Gilman and other officials from The Bank understood Westcor’s marketing concept. “They understood what we were trying to achieve,” she said.
She said the advantage to securing a deal with The Bank, which is owned by First National of Neb raska in Omaha, Neb., is that the two can tie the partnership together in architecture and in graphics.
The Bank would have four ATMs at the 1.5 million-square-foot regional shopping mall as well as a “merchant convenience center” to serve the more than 200 merchants expected to take space at the mall. Among other services, the secured center would supply coin and currency needs, and merchants would be able to access it at any time. From something similar to safe deposit boxes they would be able to pick up orders they placed the day or night before. There also would be a “merchant ATM” to dispense bundled currency and rolled coins in the event merchants have sudden, unanticipated needs.
Most malls have such centers, Gilman said.
Martinez said in the future the partners may develop a program for mall employees to use direct deposit with The Bank.
The ATMs would be located on the second floor by the food court, near Lord & Taylor, near Nordstrom and in the outdoor village portion of the mall.
