CSU approves administrative leave program

Colorado State University president Albert Yates has approved a program that grants administrative leave to staff who volunteer in public schools.

The program was approved on a two-year pilot basis and is open to permanent employees not part of the general faculty. Such employees, known as “classified staff,” serve in custodial, food service, clerical and other positions.

Volunteers will be allowed administrative leave of four hours per month. The program is limited to public schools, because state law prohibits transfer of state resources to private entities.
