Longmont buys Essex Motors property for flood mitigation
The city of Longmont paid $1 million for the Essex Motors property at 131 S. Main St. with plans to widen the St. Vrain River to guard against another flood, the Times-Call reports.
The city made the purchase in December along with a $57,000 purchase of an adjacent parcel. The Times-Call reports that Essex will be allowed lease the property back for one year for $500 per month and has the option to buy back portions that the city doesn’t end up needing.
