GREELEY – Kaiser Permanente Colorado has given $95,000 to United Way of Weld County to assist with flood recovery following historic flooding last September, as well as additional flooding that occurred earlier this month.
The money will support Weld Recovers, a program created by the United Way to address ongoing needs of flood victims throughout the county.
“Many Weld County residents are still in temporary housing and without many everyday belongings most take for granted,” Jeannine Truswell, president and CEO of United Way of Weld County, said in a statement.
United Way expects for recovery efforts to take several years, Truswell said.
“Many individuals and companies in communities affected by natural disaster don’t realize how significant the effects are and how long-lasting they can be,” said Judy Knapp, president and CEO of the Community Foundation Serving Greeley and Weld County, in a statement. The Community Foundation and United Way formed the Weld Count Flood Relief Fund to receive donations on behalf of Weld Recovers when flooding began last September.
