John Elway dealership cleared to start construction on service facility in Greeley

GREELEY — John Elway Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram has been approved to break ground on a 30,000-square-foot service facility near its existing dealership in Greeley.

The Greeley planning commission approved the project July 28, contingent on a completed drainage agreement and a note specifying that no employee and customer parking, vehicle inventory/storage or loading/unloading be permitted in the public right-of-way.

Those two items have been resolved, said Cameron Knapp, project manager with Boulder-based Drexell Barrell & Co.’s office in Greeley, who spearheaded the project through the planning department.

The facility will front U.S. Highway 34 west of 35th Street and near the existing dealership at 2501 35th Ave. The facility will be accessed via 36th Avenue, which is accessed by 25th Street.

The new facility will have six 12-foot by 14-foot overhead doors to allow vehicles to drive into the body shop and pre-delivery inspection shop. The building will be used for automotive collision repair and reconditioning of used vehicles. It will include office space, a customer waiting area and restrooms. The building will house offices for a commercial sales team of up to five sales associates. Once completed, the facility will have 25 full-time employees.

A construction start date is unclear. Officials at the dealership did not respond to a request for comment.
