Since 2001, we’ve grown alongside the people, businesses, and communities we serve.

When our four founding partners, George Berg, David Hill, Rick Greenleaf, and Giovanni Ruscitti, opened a small office in downtown Boulder in November 2001, they started with seven people and a simple belief: clients deserve sophisticated legal counsel delivered with the care of a trusted neighbor.

This November, Berg Hill Greenleaf Ruscitti LLP (BHGR) marks its 25th anniversary, and that belief still guides how we serve our clients and our community.

Growing with our clients

Our early work centered on construction, real estate, and water law, practice areas closely tied to growth along the Front Range. As our clients’ needs changed, we added to our bench. Today we practice in more than 10 areas, including litigation, business law, estate planning, and criminal law.

Our client base broadened the same way. We now represent individuals and families, entrepreneurs and established companies, and public entities, including local governments working through new legislation. Whatever the matter, our work starts the same way it did in 2001: by listening.

On any given day, that might mean helping a family plan for the future, guiding an entrepreneur through launching a company, or advising a public entity on its water rights. The matters differ, but we aim to bring the same depth of expertise and the same personal attention to each one.

Same spirit, bigger team

Growing from seven people to roughly 90 hasn’t changed how we work day to day. Our attorneys and staff carry the same all-hands-on-deck approach our founders brought to that first downtown office, with teams pulling together across practice areas when a client needs it.

We’re also grateful to the families of our team members, who share in that work every day.

Invested in community

Boulder gave us our start, and we’ve stayed involved in the community ever since. Our attorneys and staff serve on local boards and commissions, support legal aid organizations, and take on pro bono cases. We’ve also made environmental sustainability part of our commitment to the places where we live and work.

We see that work as an extension of our founders’ original idea: a law firm should be a good neighbor as well as a trusted advisor. That means showing up for our community the same way we show up for our clients, by listening first and then rolling up our sleeves.

We’re marking the milestone this fall with our clients, team members, and community partners.

Twenty-five years after opening our doors, we’re just getting started.
