Superior to consider moratorium on drilling
SUPERIOR — Trustees could approve a six-month drilling moratorium Monday, shortly after city leaders paused on the option to consult with its oil and gas legal counsel.
No immediate drilling applications are on the horizon, reports the Daily Camera. The stay is meant to be a preemptive measure while leaders look at language for new oil and gas regulations.
In October, Highlands Natural Resources applied for a permit that would have allowed for drilling up to 31 wells in an undeveloped portion of Superior. The proposal was dropped following a public backlash.

If approved, Superior would be the latest Boulder County city to halt drilling within city limits. Both Lafayette and Erie have made similar moves, although Erie’s is soon to expire.
