Advanced Energy highlights thin films in photo contest

FORT COLLINS – Advanced Energy Industries Inc. (Nasdaq: AEIS) will award an Apple iPad mini to the best thin-films photographer on Twitter.

The Fort Collins-based thin-films and precision-power products maker points out that thin films are used in a variety of technologies, though many do not realize the ubiquitous materials in everyday life. Advanced Energy is asking people to tweet photos of thin films to illustrate their importance.

Thin-film materials are used in a variety of applications, including computers, glass windows and televisions. Thin films have properties that can perform functions such as transmitting electrical signals in a television as well as reflecting heat from glass to save on air-conditioning costs.
