Pike Research rebranded as Navigant

BOULDER – Pike Research LLC in Boulder has rebranded as Navigant Research, the clean-tech market research firm announced Wednesday.

Pike Research, founded by Clint Wheelock in 2009, was acquired in July by Chicago-based Navigant Consulting Inc. (NYSE: NCI) for an undisclosed amount July 1.

Wheelock, who was president of Pike Research, is now managing director of the office in Boulder.

Pike Research publishes more than 100 reports a year, which are commissioned, purchased individually or provided on a subscription basis. Its focus is on developing clean-tech technologies and market opportunities.

Navigant is a more traditional consulting firm, providing analysis about strategy, operations and planning. According to a release from Navigant, its energy practice provides services to utilities, independent power producers, financial entities, and equipment providers, among others.

Navigant already has a presence in Boulder, having acquired Boulder-based Summit Blue Consulting in January 2010.
