Going Around HR
You may have some outdated belief that going around HR is bad. You probably think you need to follow the rules and color inside the lines in order to get hired. If so, you need to re-think your approach to the job search. I am bombarded with a LOT of resumes. I will not be annoyed if a candidate tries to go around me to make a connection with a hiring manager. If a candidate is successful at making contact with a hiring manager AND the manager ends up liking the candidate, I will be nothing but impressed. Hey, it will make my life easier. And it shows persistence, real interest, tenacity, courage and self-confidence.
There are some job search rules that still need to be followed, such as filling out applications completely and honestly. But being creative and proactive in making a connection with a hiring manager is a good thing. I just thought I would pass along my take on the matter.
