Broomfield’s Flatiron Crossing adds hotel to HiFi redevelopment plans

BROOMFIELD — Flatiron Crossing owner Macerich Co. has added a planned 150-room hotel to its ongoing effort to redevelop the aging Broomfield mall. 

The redevelopment project, which is dubbed HiFi and broke ground about a year ago, is a 24-acre district that eventually will include an outdoor community hub, apartments, eateries, entertainment venues and shops. The enclosed Flatiron Crossing mall itself will remain intact. So would some businesses in The Village, including the AMC Theater, 2nd & Charles used book store, Red Robin and P.F. Chang’s.

HiFi highlights that are underway include Novel, a five-story, 345-unit apartment community developed by Crescent Communities LLC and Pindustry, a Greenwood Village-based bowling, arcade and live-music concept. Both are expected to debut next year. 

“The momentum we’re seeing across the entire property is incredible as the elevation and transformation of FlatIron Crossing continues,” Macerich vice president of real estate development Jacob Knudsen said in a prepared statement. “With structural progress soaring outside and move-ins for the first phase of Novel HiFi set for Summer 2027, interest in HiFi is so strong that we are now planning to add an upscale business hotel complete with rooftop amenities to the site. The demand from top retailers to join this growing community only furthers our belief we’re building something truly special here for Broomfield and the surrounding region.”

The Denver Business Journal reported last week that Macerich expects to provide more information about the hotel, including its brand, before the end of the year. The hotel could open by fall 2028.
