Estes launches elk-themed business promotion

ESTES PARK – Hoping to give its businesses a boost beyond the normal end of peak tourist season, Estes Park is launching a promotional initiative themed around one of its most visible trademarks: the elk which seem to roam at will through the town and neighboring Rocky Mountain National Park.

Dealing with throngs of visitors from the Front Range and around the country and world who flock to the area to view autumn’s golden aspen leaves, Estes Park will cap its tourist season with “ElkFest” activities the weekend of Oct. 1-2. However, the town, Visit Estes Park and the Estes Chamber of Commerce said today they are collaborating on a new initiative called “Beyond Elkfest” to help promote local businesses and expand visitor interest into what usually is the fall “shoulder season.”

Business owners are being asked to create an elk-themed offer to customers and then upload it to the Visit Estes Park website through its “Special Offers” section. Once the offers are gathered, they will be shared with the public via a QR code on the ElkFest event page or the Visit Estes Park website.
