State health officials propose new oil & gas monitoring
DENVER — The Colorado Department of Public Health has proposed a new set of monitoring rules on oil and gas producers in the state to reduce air pollution.
The Denver Post reports the rule changes include ordering operators to check for leaks biannually, writing annual reports about how many pollutants they emit, reduce emissions from trucks and storage tanks and eliminating a 90-day exemption allowing drilling before the state issues an air pollution permit.
The measures would take effect next year.
