NoCo development now plans 4,000 new homes
FORT COLLINS — A mega development planned in northeast Fort Collins now expects to build around 4,000 homes, after plans continue to change.
Montava, a 900-acre development planned northwest of the Budweiser plant, said it will build 4,000 or fewer potential new homes, the Coloradoan reports. In addition to single-family homes the site would also include multifamily housing, schools, parks, shopping and a working farm.
The project has scaled back from its original proposal of 4,400 homes. Developers said the number has been changed as the project continues to be refined.

City Council approved a metro district — a key funding mechanism to levy additional property tax on eventual homeowners to help pay for infrastructure — in September. It still needs voter approval next year.
The project has committed to making 10 percent of the homes affordable to residents earning between 60 percent and 120 percent of the area’s median income for a family of four, which is currently about $85,000.
Those who want to learn more about the project can attend an information meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 19 at the Northside Aztlan Community Center, 112 E. Willow St. in Fort Collins.
