Airbnb launches option to make restaurant reservations in Denver

DENVER — Airbnb is rolling out a new feature through which travelers can make restaurant reservations using its app in select markets, and Denver is one of them.

The accommodations marketplace is partnering with Resy, a mobile app for making online reservations, to offer reservations at 650 restaurants across the country, including markets such as Denver, Miami, New York, Los Angeles, Seattle and Atlanta.

“Airbnb guests are looking for restaurants and experiences that allow them to live like locals, and this partnership will make it easier to for guests to discover Denver’s unique local dining options,” said Marisa Moret, Airbnb’s policy manager, in a prepared statement. “We know our hosts are passionate about sharing their favorite local restaurants with guests and this is just another way Airbnb is working to support the Denver business community.”

When in a city where Airbnb offers this option, travelers can read about the restaurant, see what the price range is and make a reservation.

It’s not the first expansion Airbnb has done outside of booking homes in which to stay. Last year, the service launched Experiences, where users can book things such as cooking classes, tours, bike rides art studio visits in the city they’re traveling to through AirBnb.

To coincide with the launch of its restaurant bookings, Airbnb released a restaurant report, which shows Airbnb guests spend $67 million at local Denver restaurants. That’s an increase of 68 percent from 2016, when Airbnb customers spent $40 million on dining in Denver.

Globally, across 44 markets, Airbnb guests spent more than $6.5 billion on restaurants while traveling.
