Health-care REIT acquires four SCL-operated hospitals

Four small hospitals operated by Broomfield-based SCL Health have been sold.

BusinessDen reports that four SCL Health Community Hospitals in Aurora, Northglenn, Littleton and Westminster were purchased for $135 million by Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Healthcare Trust of America, a publicly traded real estate investment trust focused on medical properties. The seller was Duke Realty, based in Indianapolis.

SCL Health has been experimenting with smaller medical centers, in addition to its larger facilities such as Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette, St. Joseph Hospital in Denver and others.
