Weld commissioners vote to extend Weld County road project
GREELEY — Weld County Commissioners voted Wednesday to extend construction work on Weld County Road 47 north to Colorado Highway 392.
The Greeley Tribune reports that the county will spend $21 million to extend work from the Weld County Parkway to Colorado 392 at Lucerne. The latest leg of the project is slated for completion in mid 2018. In all, expansion to Weld County Road 47/49 will extend for 26 miles, all the way to Interstate 76.
The expansion is considered a way to ease traffic congestion caused by oil and gas development, as well as other growth. It also provides a faster route to Denver International Airport while reducing congestion on U.S. Highway 85.
