A student-run cafe at the University of Colorado Boulder’s business school is getting a tough lesson in what happens when companies don’t comply with state regulations.
The Daily Camera reports that Trep Cafe has shut down because it couldn’t afford to pay $224,000 in fines for not having workers compensation insurance during several periods over the past five years. The school will also now work with the state department of labor to determine what, if any, liability CU has in the case.
