RockyNet completes merger with Massive Networks

BOULDER — RockyNet has completed a merger with Louisville-based Massive Networks, the combined companies’ chief executive announced Monday.

Financial details of the deal were not available.

Paul Mako, who founded Boulder-based RockyNet in 1996, sold it to Dallas-based Allied Riser Corp. in 2000 and then bought it back in 2001, said Massive and RockyNet have been working as partner companies for the past few years.

In preparation for Republic Services becoming the primary provider of residential recycling, yard trimmings, and trash, residents should now select the best cart size and service schedule for their household needs.

“This merger has been a natural progression to that partnership,” Mako said in an email. “Massive’s main shareholder, Kevin Flake, and I will continue to own the company in partnership. Kevin will continue to drive our nationwide and international expansion, and I will continue to run the company as CEO.”

RockyNet will continue to be the parent company doing business as Massive Networks, Mako said, and will continue to operate its 24/7 technical support — but answering calls as “Massive Networks.” The two companies’ websites will merge, and all branding will be under the Massive Networks name.

The alliance extends RockyNet’s colocation and engineering expertise into Massive’s national and international footprint of ethernet connection and its internet-connectivity business, Mako said. “The merger with Massive Networks allows us to go back to our roots, and provide businesses here in Colorado and across the country with fiber connectivity from 10 megabytes per second to 10 gigabytes per second.”
