Lincoln Center designated dementia-friendly

FORT COLLINS — The Lincoln Center, an entertainment and event venue in downtown Fort Collins, has become the first organization in Northern Colorado to be designated “dementia-friendly,” according to a local advocacy organization.

To receive the designation from Dementia-Friendly Communities of Northern Colorado, the Lincoln Center staff participated in customized interactive training this week that increased awareness and effectiveness in serving customers, clients and patrons who live with dementia and cognitive impairment.

Lincoln Center hosts the B-Sharp Arts Engagement Program, one of several innovative collaborative activities in the area that are designed to help those living with dementia stay engaged with the community.

Commercial Solar is a big investment, but not an overwhelming one

Solar offers a significant economic benefit for commercial property owners while also positively impacting the environment and offering a path to compliance for new municipal requirements like Energize Denver. A local, experienced solar installer will help you navigate the complexities of commercial solar to achieve financial success for your project.

Dementia-Friendly Communities of Northern Colorado is privately funded but is building an alliance with area companies and individuals who want to invest in its community outreach effort to meet the needs of a growing aging population.

The group’s initial goal is to provide education for at least 30 businesses and/or organizations by the end of 2016 that want to be designated as “dementia-friendly.” The training program focuses on basic dementia information, communication strategies and environmental design elements that make it easier for someone with dementia and the care partners to frequent their business.
