Lucy Sanders, chief executive of the nonprofit National Center for Women & Information Technology in Boulder, received the U.S. News STEM Leadership Hall of Fame Award. Sanders co-founded the center in 2004 to increase women’s meaningful participation in technology and computing. NCWIT helps companies, academic institutions, and K-12 organizations more effectively recruit and retain girls and women to technology and computing fields.

Niwot-based shoemaker Crocs Inc. (Nasdaq: CROX) received a Silver Stevie Award for Company of the Year – Consumer Products- Durables, and Croc’s chief legal and administrative officer Dan Hart received a Silver Stevie Award for Human Resources Executive of the Year. Stevies, presented by American Business Awards, recognize outstanding performances in the workplace worldwide.

Steven Hughes and Justin Gold received regional awards on their quest for the national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2013 Award. Hughes, chief executive and chairman of Niwot-based natural foods company Boulder Brands Inc., received a 2013 Mountain Desert Award in the Retail Distribution & Services category. The Mountain Desert region includes Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico. Gold, founder and chief executive of Boulder-based Justin’s LLC, a nut butter and candy bar maker, received a 2013 Mountain Desert Award in the Consumer Products category. The two were among seven regional winners chosen from 26 finalists by a panel of independent judges. Regional award winners compete at the national level, which will be announced Nov. 16 in Palm Springs, California.

Keith Emery, an engineer and principal scientist at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, received the William R. Cherry Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Boulder-based Spectra Logic Corp. received a Storage Innovators Award at the 2013 Storage Awards ceremony. The awards are voted on by readers of Storage Magazine and recognize the products, services and people in the storage industry. Spectra Logic competed against 12 other companies, including IBM, Veeam and Symantec, in the innovation category. More than 50,000 votes were cast in the build-up to the awards ceremony in London. Over the past year, Spectra Logic announced the availability of 10GbE iSCSI connectivity to tape, the commencement of LTO-6 shipments and the installation of a 380 PBs near-line tape archive for NCSA’s Blue Waters supercomputing system.
