InfoTrust acquires Flatirons Solutions

BOULDER – Two growing companies with Boulder County presences announced a merger on Monday that both sides expect will help boost their employee numbers locally.

InfoTrust Group, a provider of XML-based information-management solutions, announced the acquisition of Boulder-based Flatirons Solutions, which specializes in consulting and systems integration for content-intensive and regulatory-driven industries.

Flatirons will become a subsidiary of InfoTrust, based in Irvine, California, with both companies keeping their own branding.

InfoTrust president and chief executive Geoffrey Godet declined to disclose terms of the deal or revenue for the two privately held companies. But both he and Greg Beserra, Flatirons co-founder and president of content technology, said they expect to add a combined 30 employees to their operations in Colorado by the end of the year, a number that accounts for about 75 percent of the companies’ overall job growth for the same time frame. While there is some overlap between the companies, neither side expects to eliminate any jobs.

InfoTrust employs about 50 people at its office in Superior, while Flatirons employs approximately the same number in Boulder. Between the two companies, they employ about 350 full-time employees and about 50 contractors at their various locations around the world. InfoTrust and Flatirons recently opened an office together in London.

“We’re definitely committed to the long term on the Front Range,” Godet said. “This acquisition is just a reinforcement of this commitment.”

Beserra said both companies have about three years remaining on their current leases locally, and that consolidating into one location is a possibility down the road, although he echoed the commitment to remain in Boulder County.

Beserra said both companies offer strong XML content-management skills.

“We think together we’re even that much stronger,” Beserra said. “It’s all about strategic moves here and how do we grow.”

Godet said Flatirons brings a strong IT consulting presence to InfoTrust’s own strengths in software and technology. The two companies also have client bases that mesh well, with InfoTrust strong in industries such as aerospace and Flatirons prominent in the government and publishing arenas.

“Altogether, it’s a very complementary acquisition,” Godet said.
