Nation’s second largest wind farm in Peetz

PEETZ – Gov. Bill Ritter will break ground Wednesday on the nation’s second largest wind farm, with enough capacity to generate electricity to power 120,000 homes.

The small town of Peetz in northeastern Colorado – on Colorado Highway 113 near the Nebraska boarder – is the site of the FPL Energy-owned and -operated wind farm, which will place 260 wind turbines capable of generating 400 megawatts on privately owned land encompassing 80 square miles.
