Vectra: Small businesses rebounding

DENVER – Colorado’s thousands of small businesses have rebounded reasonably well from the recession in recent months, but still face challenges as the U.S. economy stalls, said Jeff Thredgold, Vectra Bank Colorado’s corporate economist.

Reflecting this, the Vectra Bank Colorado Small Business Index for Colorado measured 114.0 in August, up from a revised 113.8 in July 2011.

While Colorado’s total employment grew by 18,600 jobs during the past 12 months, there was no net change in estimated employment nationally during August, and the U.S. economy exhibited the weakest job creation in 11 months.
