Beth Flowers named Beet Street interim director

FORT COLLINS – Beth Flowers, who has been serving as senior producer/project director for Beet Street, has been appointed interim executive director for the nonprofit organization.

Flowers’ appointment was approved by the Fort Collins Downtown Development Authority board on Sept. 8 on a recommendation from the Beet Street board of directors.

Flowers replaces former Beet Street Executive Director Ryan Keiffer, who served in that role for two years before departing in July to return to A-Train Marketing Communications in Fort Collins, a company he owns with his wife, Gretchen Gaede.

As Mental Health Awareness Month unfolds in Colorado, it serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility to prioritize mental well-being.

Flowers has been leading the day-to-day operations of Beet Street since then. Her interim appointment to executive director is in force until the end of the year.

Blue Hovatter, Beet Street board chairman, said the board decided to go with an interim director until a permanent director is hired.

“We feel very confident with Beth moving forward,” he said. “She’s very familiar with the organization and believes in the arts incubator.”

Beet Street is a nonprofit spun out of the DDA to promote visitation to the downtown. The group is also partnering with the city and Colorado State University to develop an arts incubator that would include professional development classes for local arts groups and artists.

Hovatter said Beet Street wants to wait until the arts incubator program is more fleshed out before deciding on who should be the next director. The incubator got a boost in June with a $100,000 grant from the National Endowment of the Arts.
