Legislative Audit Committee votes unanimously to audit PUC

DENVER – Legislative Audit Committee of the Colorado Senate voted unanimously in favor of auditing the state Public Utilities Commission on Monday. The vote by the seven-member committee was taken in response to a request by Sens. Steve King, R-Grand Junction, and Scott Renfroe, R-Greeley, in March.

After preliminary research, State Auditor Dianne Ray recommended a performance audit of the PUC that would address two specific issues:

  1. Has the PUC established and implemented adequate policies and procedures to ensure the commissioners’ regulatory and decision-making activities are transparent and comply with state laws, regulations, and governance standards? This would include evaluating…
