Working into our 70s and Beyond
The financial planner says I need to sock away enough money to support myself until I am at least 90 years old. At least. OMG. The other day I was informed that I [should plan to work well into my 70s in order to build enough wealth to cover my elder years.
I always knew I was on the “get poor slow” plan but this was a shocker. Getting rich quick escaped me. Unlike many of my friends, I can admit that this sucks. What is with these folks who say, “I have no desire to retire. What would I do with myself all day?”
Are you kidding me? Why are we so quick to denounce the idea of retirement? I was thoroughly looking forward to touring the country in an RV. When retirement is no longer an option, people adapt. Or they go delusional that retiring never held any appeal.
So, what is the point? What I am trying to say is that we must budget and save for our golden years. Get with a financial planner. Take an honest look at your situation. Make a plan. And then you can join me in griping about having to work longer and harder than you previously imagined. Misery loves company.
