Selling a home? You’ll probably come up a little short if you’re thinking about throwing in a few appliances and a generous carpet allowance to help sweeten the deal.

With the nasty downturn in the residential market homebuilders and real estate agents have started offering hard-to-ignore incentives. Some builders are throwing in finished basements, granite countertops and swimming pools. A real estate agency in Florida is willing to pay for two years of property taxes and insurance.
