CSU, CU win NASA research grant

WASHINGTON D.C. – NASA’s Science Mission Directorate awarded a $833,217 research grant to Colorado State University to support its Ice, Cloud and Land Elevation Satellite program, the federal agency announced today.

In the same announcement, NASA said it awarded $304,517 to the University of Colorado for work in the same program.

The ICLE Satellite records ice-sheet elevation changes. The research program examines the relationship between observed ice changes and polar climate, in an effort to improve estimates of how they influence global sea levels.

The satellite’s measurements also provide data on the “precise vertical structure of clouds and aerosols.”
