Business Hall of Fame to honor inductees May 4

BOULDER ? The Anspach family runs a jewelry store. William Suitts founded and runs a mortgage company. Teresa Warren owns an antique store. Ted and Carolyn Manzanares operate a Mexican restaurant. Henry Beer, Richard Foy and Janet Martin continue to design commercial projects. Ronald Cheyney operates a printing business.

Together, they are the 2005 inductees into the Boulder County Business Hall of Fame and will be honored during a luncheon at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 4, at the Millennium Harvest House in Boulder.

The cost of the event is $35 per person. Reservations can be made, and tickets can be purchased by calling Nuri Hartley at (303) 443-3850. The Hall of Fame inductees will be profiled in an April 29 special section of The Boulder County Business Report, founding media sponsor for the event.

?I think these people represent business at its best,? said Fran Raudenbush, an event organizer working with the Hall of Fame?s board of directors. ?They have been successful in their businesses, and they have provided energy and direction to help make the county a better place. For this year they have stood out with distinction.?

Last fall, the Business Hall of Fame?s eight-member board of directors received nominations of individuals, partners and family members who have been successful in starting and maintaining a business in Boulder County. The directors weighed nominees? economic, civic, cultural and religious involvement in the community.

Inductees into the Hall of Fame, now in its 13th year, must live in the county.

Here is a brief look at each 2005 inductee:

Anspach Family: After arriving in Lafayette from Montana in 1955, the late Glen Anspach and his wife, Dee, opened a jewelry store. They named it, appropriately, Anspach?s Jewelry.

Today, four generations of the family work at the store, which is in its 50th year of operations. The business has evolved from a custom jewelry and watch repair store into a fine jewelry establishment.

William Suitts: In 1958, Suitts founded Colorado Mortgage Company, which has provided financing for more than 5,000 single-family homes. He has helped develop the home communities of Martin Acres, Keewaydin Meadows, Centennial Valley and Indian Peaks.

Suitts, of Boulder, remains active in the Boulder Optimists Club, United Methodist Church and is a member of the American Research Music Board. He has donated to the universities of Colorado and Denver.

Teresa Warren: Warren owns Off Her Rocker Antique Store in Nederland and works as the president of the town?s chamber of commerce. She volunteers with the school improvement team and its organizations.

Ted and Carolyn Manzanares: Senor T?s has been a Louisville mainstay for 33 years, thanks to the Manzanares, who have owned and operated the restaurant since they opened it. The family works with three basic principles of hard work, fairness and honesty.

The Manzanares also help out with Boulder County schools, Boy and Girl Scouts, the Louisville Downtown Business Association and the Blind Foundation, among others.

Henry Beer, Richard Foy and Janet Martin: Beer, Foy and Martin co-founded Boulder-based Communication Arts in 1973. Their company helped design Boulder?s Pearl Street Mall and numerous commercial projects around the world.

They have supported, among other things, Community Food Share, the Colorado Music Festival, Historic Boulder and the Downtown Mall Commission.

Ronald Cheyney: Cheyney opened Ron?s Printing Center in 1978 in Longmont. Through the business, Cheyney has donated volunteer hours and materials to local clubs and agencies, including Boulder County Partners, Twin Peaks Rotary Club, Longmont Youth Center and the Humane Society.

He is active in such groups as the Lions Club, Longmont YMCA, the Longmont Chamber of Commerce, the Council for the Arts and Crimestoppers.
